Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of patients’ personality traits and psycho-emotional state, assessed using the Luscher and Eysenck tests, on the process of adaptation to removable dental prostheses. Particular attention was paid to the role of neuroticism, extraversion–introversion, and the level of emotional tension during the adaptation period. Materials and Methods. The study included patients who required orthopedic treatment with removable dental prostheses. The psycho-emotional state was evaluated using the Luscher color test, which allows the determination of internal anxiety, stress tension, and personal adaptability. To characterize individual psychological features, the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) was applied, assessing the scales of extraversion–introversion and neuroticism. The test results were compared with the duration and quality of prosthesis adaptation, as evaluated through clinical observation. Results. The analysis revealed that a high level of neuroticism, identified by the Eysenck questionnaire, as well as emotional tension and anxiety indicated by the Luscher test, were associated with a longer and more complicated adaptation process. Such patients frequently reported discomfort, difficulties in prosthesis use, and psychoemotional instability, which required additional corrective measures. Conversely, patients with an extraverted personality type adapted faster and more successfully, demonstrating greater readiness for cooperation and a positive attitude toward prosthetic treatment. The findings indicate a clear correlation between psycho-emotional characteristics and the quality of adaptation to removable prostheses. Conclusions. The data obtained confirm that psychological factors play a decisive role in the adaptation process to removable dental prostheses. The use of the Luscher and Eysenck tests makes it possible to identify patients at increased risk of complications during the habituation stage, thereby facilitating the timely development of individualized treatment approaches. In our opinion, the integration of psychodiagnostic methods into pre-prosthetic preparation is a rational auxiliary component that additionally enhances the effectiveness of orthopedic treatment.
