CLINICAL EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PROPHYLACTIC COMPLEX IN BLIND CHILDREN

Abstract

The aim of our investigation was to study the clinical efficiency of the preventional complex that consists of two tooth pastes of different producers “Oral-B Sensitive” and “Colgate Triple Action“ for dental caries prevention. Materials and methods of the research. The investigations took place at the State establishment "The Institute of Stomatology of the National academy of medical science of Ukraine" Children of 7 (28 persons) and 12 (30 persons) years old took part in the investigation. The groups of comparison consisted of 30 children of the same age with the same oral cavity condition. To children of the group of comparison applications with 3 % “Remodent” solution were made, after that their teeth were covered with “Ftorlac”, after that patients used different tooth pastes with fluoride and concentration of sodium monofluorophosphate 1,1 % during 3 months. All the patients were instructed about individual oral cavity hygiene before the investigation. In the base group of children we proposed to use the tooth paste “Oral-B Sensitive” for teeth cleaning during 30 days twice a day after meal, and for the next 30 days the paste “Colgate Triple Action“. After that term we used the hygienic tooth paste without fluoride during 30 days. After that our patients were proposed to repeat the same complex of tooth pastes each 30 days. The whole complex of clinical tests has been repeated in half a year, 12 months, 24 months. The clinical status gas been determined by the indexes: CFEt, CFEc, of dental caries increase and dental caries reduction. The hygienic status of oral cavity was estimated by the Green-Vermillion index. Conclusion. The worked out scheme of the usage of the preventional complex lets us increase the affectivity of dental caries prevention at blind children.
